Justified Accord 2025: Strengthening Multinational Readiness in East Africa
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has initiated Exercise Justified Accord 2025 (JA25), marking its largest annual multinational military drill in East Africa. Taking place from February 10-21, this exercise is hosted across Kenya, Djibouti, and Tanzania, involving around 1,300 personnel from over 15 nations. The primary objective of JA25 is to enhance the capacity of participating forces to effectively address regional security threats, humanitarian crises, and peacekeeping operations.
This year’s exercise introduces innovative components, including the inaugural night iteration of air-to-ground integration (AGI) operations. This allows partner nations to manage Kenyan air assets, providing crucial air support for multinational ground forces. Additionally, U.S. and Kenyan military healthcare teams will implement veterinary and medical civic action programs (VETCAP and MEDCAP), delivering essential services to local communities while fostering positive relations.
JA25 also commemorates the 10-year anniversary of the State Partnership Program between the Massachusetts National Guard and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). This milestone underscores a decade of military cooperation and capacity-building initiatives. Overall, JA25 reinforces the commitment of the U.S. and its partners to enhance joint military readiness and collaborative crisis response in East Africa.
