Somalia and Ethiopia Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties in Joint Communiqué

Mogadishu, 27/02/2025 – Somalia and Ethiopia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and security ties during Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s official visit to Mogadishu. The discussions between Somali leadership and the Ethiopian federal government underscored the importance of regional cooperation in advancing mutual interests and ensuring stability in the Horn of Africa.

During the high-level talks, both sides emphasized the deep historical and cultural ties that bind their nations. Infrastructure development and economic collaboration were key topics, with leaders exploring ways to enhance connectivity and trade between the two countries.

Security cooperation was another critical focus, with both governments welcoming ongoing military coordination and technical discussions under the Ankara Declaration. These efforts aim to bolster regional stability and counter security threats through intelligence sharing and joint operations.
