Getachew Nigatu W/Mariam is a distinguished expert possessing extensive expertise in international relations, political communication, and project management. He has attained advanced degrees in International Relations from Addis Ababa University and Communication Studies from the University of Leeds, reflecting his dedication to comprehending the complexities of global interactions and effective communication strategies. Additionally, he is certified as a Scrum Master (CSM) and Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), which signifies his adeptness with agile project management methodologies.

As the founder of Horn Review, he has established a specialized role in research and analysis, offering significant insights into pertinent regional issues. His notable career trajectory includes leading roles such as Director General at the FDRE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he adeptly managed intricate diplomatic challenges, and Director of Operations at Grow Fundraising & Consulting Inc. in Bethesda, Maryland, where he directed strategic efforts to optimize organizational efficiency.

Significantly, Getachew's commitment to humanitarian pursuits is highlighted by his service with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, where he managed the Washington DC office for over five years. In this capacity, he significantly contributed to advocacy and strategy implementation to aid displaced populations. With over a decade of professional experience, he has refined his competencies in operations, strategic management, and security studies, establishing himself as a respected authority in his discipline.

Blen Mamo

Blen is a skilled researcher and political analyst with expertise in Ethiopian law, politics, and national security. Holding an LLB and an MSc in International Security and Global Governance from Birkbeck, University of London, her expertise encompasses international relations, regional security, and geopolitics.  

Her professional experience includes senior roles in legal advisory, research and advocacy. She has also volunteered with esteemed organizations such as United Nations Association UK, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Make Every Woman Count UK, Prisoners’ Advice UK, Ethiopian Human Rights Council, Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association, and the Addis Ababa University Centre for Human Rights (Legal Aid Project).  

As the Executive Director of the Horn Review, Blen is  committed to bridge the gap between intellectuals and policy makers by creating an efficient platform to analyse and address critical issues affecting Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. She actively contributes to scholarly discussions on national, regional and global security, and foreign policy.

Jalene Tesfaye

Jalene is the Deputy Director at Horn Review.In her leadership role, Jalene supports the Director in implementing policies, managing resources, and guiding staff to achieve key organizational objectives. With a solid academic foundation in Political Science and International Relations, Jalene oversees projects and initiatives focused on geopolitical analysis, international relations, and media strategy within the Horn of Africa. She also serves as an English news anchor at News Analytica, where she uses her communication and analytical skills to provide in-depth news coverage and insightful political analysis focused on the Horn of Africa.
