Marco Rubio Criticizes Biden’s Ukraine Strategy, Announces Foreign Aid Freeze

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has criticized the previous administration for miscalculating its support for Ukraine, arguing that it misled the public into believing Kyiv could defeat Russia. He stated that Ukraine has been set back 100 years, with its energy infrastructure severely damaged.

In line with this stance, Rubio has announced an immediate 90-day halt on most foreign aid grants, exceeding President Donald Trump’s executive order calling for a review of foreign assistance. The pause affects both existing funds and aid to Ukraine, sparking concern among U.S. diplomats and foreign policy experts.

Despite the freeze, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that U.S. military aid to Ukraine continues, as the country remains heavily reliant on American support. U.S. officials are now pushing for an exemption for Ukraine from Rubio’s aid freeze, citing national security concerns.
